What happened

A former executive officer of the advertising company Daiko, acting for the company, paid a former board member of the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee. The money went in two remittances, in January 2020 and February 2022, to a consulting company run by an acquaintance of the board member. The total was approximately JPY 6,500,000. The Supreme Court of Japan rejected the executive's appeal on 20 October 2025, which made the conviction final. The board member's own trial is a separate matter.
